A few short reviews on how I think Atlantis is doing so far:
?-Haven't seen it.
0-Garbage unworthy of being on television.
1-My hour could have been better spent burning alive.
2-Horrible, horrible episode that is worth skipping.
3-Perhaps there was one scene to watch. The rest sucked the big one.
4-The characters were off, the scenes seemed haphazardly thrown together.
5-Halfway there, at least now it's starting to borderline entertainment. If you're a fan, watch this, but don't expect much.
6-Now we're getting there. The characters are done well, the story is enticing, but there are still better things to watch. Worth checking out whether you're a fan or just watch the show occaisionally.
7-A quality episode that is fun to watch. You can get into the story, involved with the characters, although there are a few things that possibly ruin the episode.
8-A great episode. This is what I consider Stargate to be all about. The characters are interesting, the story is interesting, and any flaws are extremely minor.
9-Nearly perfect. Possesses all the qualities of an "8," but there are no flaws, or if so they are extremely minor nitpicks.
10-Nine is great, but episode with a score of 10 are truly above and beyond. The characters aren't just interesting, they're spot on and truly entertaining to watch. Very few episodes achieve a 10, but you better d**n well watch them if they do.
1) The Siege, Part 3-Every time it's on I miss it and forget to tape it! It came out in, what, July? And I still have yet to see it. I know the basic ideas though. ?/10
2) Intruder-Yes, it is in every way a rehash of SG-1's "Entity." However, I liked it better than "Entity." For some reason, 2.01-2.03 had McKay being rediculously over the top and reduced mostly to comic relief, but it was fixed in Duet and he's been great ever since. This episode would have been nothing without Hermiod. While this episode had its moments, I've seen much better from both seasons. 6/10
3) Runner-Ford episodes in season two are my favorites, and this one served up an enjoyable hour or two. McKay was still a little off, but I found the introduction of Ronon to be quite interesting. The end felt a bit rushed with Ronon's homeworld, as they only checked the area around the gate. Ronon, Ford, Sheppard, and Beckett stole the show in this one, and I especially enjoyed Ford and Ronon going at it in the end. 8/10
4) Duet-A very well done comedic episode. It had some nice Zelenka moments, as well as Beckett and obviously McKay. Hewlett did a wonderful job differentiating the characters. I like Cadman, and she'll be back in the second half.
However, I reserve perfect scores only for extremely well done episodes that only come a few times in a series. This one was very close but not quite there. 9/10
5) Condemned-An interesting go through the gate and get into trouble episode. I enjoyed the developments with the Wraith, as well as the team feel with Ronon now added. However, as many people say, despite the danger I didn't get the sense of urgency from this episode. Good, entertaining, and enjoyable, but not great. 7/10
6) Trinity-The fall of McKay. This was truly a character driven episode, but I found myself enjoying the B-plot more than the A-plot. However, both plots were pretty entertaining and Ronon is shaping up to be an interesting character. At times, however, the A-plot bored me. 8/10
7) Instinct-A truly informational episode. It starts off a bit boring but picks up later on. It's a great lead up to Conversion and I enjoyed the moments with McKay and Beckett. Like I said, though, it got boring at some parts. 8/10
8) Conversion-Was my favorite episode of Atlantis as a whole until "The Lost Boys" premiered. Sheppard's transformation was just so well done, and so were the reactions of his teammates. McGillion and Flanigan stole the show in this one. I enjoyed seeing the team working together to get that egg, and Sheppard's badass look near the end. Stunning episode. 9/10
9) Aurora-The whole VR thing was cool, and there were some good character moments here, but I guess in between two excellent episodes it sort of paled in comparison. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but it wasn't the best. 8/10
10) The Lost Boys-In my opinion the greatest episode of Atlantis to date. You might disagree, but the team feeling that is sometimes lacking in SG-1 was spot on here. I liked all of the characters, and Rainbow did great with Ford. The scenes on the hive ship were excellent, leaving Sheppard in quite a screwed position. 10/10
11) The Hive-Since it only aired in Canada, I haven't been able to see it quite yet. I've heard about it, and most people seemed to enjoy it, with a few disappointments here and there. Of course, I can't say myself until I've seen it. ?/10
Well, that took a while.
