Stargate: Marathon

Stargate Marathon is a relatively new idea, in which the style is as important as the content. The point of it is to have a stargate story, based in the SG-1 universe, but with a fast pace and intricate plot like 24.

The final number of episodes would be 42, mainly because a marathon is 42km. These episodes would be about half the length of a standard episode, giving about 21 normal episodes. This is roughly a season and fits nicely with the idea that on 24, a season is one big story.

Synopsis

Set in season 9 of SG-1, a new SG team has to a counteract devious plan. After a gate malfunction kills an SG team on a routine mission, the SGC uncovers a dark plot to fight the Ori. This plan uses evil to fight evil and must be stopped. SG-1 and a brand new team (one member from each of the countries seen in "Disclosure") go out to prevent this. SG-1 is neutralised and it is up to the new team to rise to the challenge. Their struggle doesn't allow time for rest. A real marathon.

I'm skeptical about the story. Just because I don't like things which mess with cannon on large levels. But assuming you can do this without condtradicting anything taht happens in the regular show I think it really shows some promiss and I urge you to pursue it.

If nothing else the concept it self is brilliant.

The concept is excellent, the story could do with more work, like said since it might interfer with cannon. Perhaps set it earlier in the series and on the Alpha Site?

It depends how SG-1 is nutralised, if they are mearly disabled then as far as I'm concerned its not modifying cannon.

Anyway, I really like the concept, and I look forward to reading it when you finish writing

Thanks for the replies guys. This is still in the early stages of development and I'm still not far into it. Hopefully, I'll be able to work on it during the next few weeks as I'm going home today. Then, of course, I will have less time for it as I go back to uni and Horizon's S3 kicks off..

I think I'll have to do the story as I write the episodes, as getting the whole story done in one go will be difficult.

Just an idea, i'd sugest a name change. something akain to 24 that identifies the show abit better maybe. But it's your choice.

Yeah a new name might be better. It sounds like it's gonnna be an interesting and challenging task for your Vincent. You should probably get the basic ideas for each of the plotlines and then map out just where you want them to end. Something tells me a series like this'll be hard to wing.
