Disscussion for Crossroads is now Open: Release Date: Mon 24 Apr 06 Written by James Pope After a surprise meeting with an old friend the crew of the Ark take the first steps towards a fate they know little about, with a Dark new threat emerging from the depths of the Ark wile the team find themselves in the wastelands of time itself. Scared, alone and in trouble the team must not only find a way to stop this evil force, but also try and find a place to call home. The episode carries on from where “Dawn 2” left off, with the team trying to find out what was chasing Lester. As they go deeper into the mystery it starts off a series off events which could potentially rip the team apart. We get to meet our new big enemy in this episode, as the episode and season go on you’ll get to see that they are unlike anything we have seen before in the Star Gate universe (What a cliché). The crew set off to try and find the Alliance or someone who can help at the end of “Dawn 2” but that ends up being harder than we thought as the Ark is hijacked and forced through time to a desolate wasteland. It is here that the team will face there toughest challenge wile fighting the Ark itself. How will this new band of explorers get out of this situation? Read “Crossroads” and find out, but the events here will affect the entire galaxy for quite some time. please discuss

Do you even have people looking over episodes before they're released to spot spelling/grammer mistakes?

Well, the typos sere rather distracting, but the episode didn't seem too bad, IMO.

Do you know what I did? I just read on and thought "Hey, this guy isn't a pro it's just a bit of fun and no body's perfect. I mean, I've read books with typos in, and they are pros." Thanks for reading the episode, hope you enjoted it. ThePope

Well, I'm not perfect, but I'm probably not going to put "Arks" instead of "Ark's" multiple times! (That's the one that really comes to mind first. Next is the wrong "rite"/"write"/"right". The first isn't even a word, for crying out loud!)
[edit] BTW, I use the Quick Reply, so I'm permitted to make a typo or two every now and then. Seriously, I was reading through this episode and I couldn't help but notice numerous typos that I would expect form a chatspeaker, not a professional writer.

Don't worry, I heard they've finally got proper proofreading going on now.
As for the episode, it was ok. It seemed to be a lot longer than 92 pages. I read it quite quickly so I was a bit thrown off with all the stuff on the planet. It was a bit hard to follow at times. The typos did get annoying, but it doesn't really affect the story.
I'd like to comment on the characters. The way they are portrayed and their interactions are improved. Lester and Elliot are a bit toned down, but still themselves, which is more pleasant to read.
One thing I don't understand is why everyone looks to Daniel as commander of the ship. After all, he is only a civilian and Colonel Carter seems better suited to command the ship, given that so also understand its systems better than Daniel does.
PS : Where's the poll for this episode ??

THanks for the character points, lester and elliot will be toned down but themselves. As to Daniel there several reasons he captain: *hes the only one who can read ancients profficently, until they get translators in all thew computers, they need him to be where he is right now, which in the control room telling them what the computer says. *hes been fighting for along time, hes got military experience above all the other scientists on earth! let alone on that ship. *Colonel Carter would was in control but Daniel was needed so much more than her it became a weir and sheppard deal, well it would have become. Now even without rank thwe most obvious choice to captain the ship would be Daniel. Hes got the experience, skills and knowledge to do the job. So he is.
well i dont have permission to put a poll, so as one of the propper mods! also Nodot, rite is a word, rite of passage...and yes i totally agree he always uses those three incorrectly, its something i shout loadly at him for *nudge* *nudge* on MSN and make him correct himself! so your not the only one that hates that!

As far as I am aware, a thread needs to be started as a Poll, we can't add one in later... So, its a case of reminding us a day before the release date to make a poll-thread for you...
Ok, I read this episode.
Wow, it was long. It was also very confusing. I've a few comments:
- You packed a lot of storyline and activity into this, and skimmed over it all. Very little was explained, and as it kept jumping around the little which was explained wasn't understood.
- The whole "virus" thing didn't make sense, esp cos it was in the electronics AND the humans... that was plain weird. Esp. with the "virus" moving, usually they replicate?
- I fail to see how a Drone could punch a hole big enough for people to get through, the Drones are tiny... ALSO ignoring that, when are they going to fill up this "human sized" hole in their hull?
And a few more little things, but they are the main annoyances.

Well firstly it didnt go through the hull, it went through the hanger shields/seperators, knowing the drones go through shields, there was no structural damage caused externally, its just logdged in the wall, which is easy to remove.

Ok glad you read the eposiode, but why does every one want everything explained at once?? Ever heared of the word "mystery"? Did you find out everything about the Goa'uld, The Replicators, The Ori, The Lucian Allicance, The Wraith and The Genni all in one episode? I don't think so. If we did it like that then there would be no spur to read on and find out more about this new enemy. It's only 92 pages, i could've made it much longer if you wanted but i cut alot out which will now go into other episodes, I was thinking of you guys there. I know how you cant sit down, relax with a cup of tea/coffee, perhaps a biscuit and take the time to read these things. I explained it in the episode about the Ark hanger shield, and i'm sure i said tat it "passes" through the Ark's oily black strip and punches into the wall. Not sure what the other things were, something to do with the wrong use of the word "Write" every so often, but several people did read it before release and i didnt get any real complaints. Hope you liked the episode. ThePope

Who read through it without complaint? IMO, the problem stuck out massively.
