Synopsis: As Chase, Arina, and Dr. Jay Felger are kidnapped by a group of Ventorians who are after something Arina has in her possession, an adventure begins that leads this trio of heroes to a strange planet and some surprising discoveries.

IIt seemed to me that Dureg was just kinda forgotten, but not that I really care much because it was such a funny episode. It's been a good week for humerous SG shows with Atlantis airing Duet this week in the UK.

I loved that moment when Chase said he'd quit Horizon and him and Dureg had the talking about the past going. I LOLed more than a few times during this episode. Although, some of Duregs stuff did seem out of character just to fit the humour of the episode. I did like his comment about opposing humaniod marriages though, that made me laugh.

Shame we didn't see Felger do more though, I thought it would have been a more prominent character, but he seemed more like a backing up character since he didn't do all that much. Saying that though, I thought the Chase/Arina thing that was started'll be fun.

I loved the character interaction throughout, it was a pretty funny and The Ties That Bind style episode and I down right loved it. Way - to - go.

I'd give it an "Excellent," but someone went vernacular on the script, and it kept bugging me.

Well, the word "vernacular" refers to use of different dialects, some that seem like slang and what not. I didn't seem to notice anything like that, but I suppose it's too late now.

What in particular were you referring to? If it's bothersome, I'd prefer being able to notice it so that it doesn't happen more than once.

There were several cases, but the one that sticks out the most was in the initial description of the Alien Nightclub. Second line: "That's right!" I'm sorry, but using that rubbed me the wrong way.

I actually found that sort of writing to actually make the descriptive writing suit the comical nature of the episode. And Mike, I was asking him what he found vernacular, not what it meant. *Thank god for dictionaries*

NoDot, I see what you mean. I was able to kind of overlook that, it didn't affect it much for me. If it did for you, I'm pretty sure that as Aaron said, it was probably only used to suit the nature of the episode. Parti Pris is pretty much complete and I see nothing like that there.

Just adding my two cents to this real quick. That was done purposely. There's nothing like that in "Parti Pris' because it's not exactly a comedy episode. On the contrary, it's one of those quite dramatic episodes.

Basically there are no rules when it comes to description in a script. The only rule is it has to be clear, understandable, and as succint as possible. Other than that, you can feel free to write it as you like. And, in this case, I felt it fits the episode very well. Another television script for a comedic episode of another series had things like that in it too, by the way.

From what it sounds like here, it could come across as if that was some kind of mistake that was overlooked or as if it were automatically something negative or dare I say it, bad writing. It definitely wasn't there by accident. It's not any different than naming a character "Stupid Ventorian Thug", which is, let's be honest, kind of unusual, since that's what would also appear in the end credits of the episode.

Lol, but like said, it was written that way to fit into the style of the episode and for all intents and purposes did the correct job.

Didn't happen too much anyway. Like I said, if you didn't like it thanks for bearing with it, the next few episodes are quite serious.

I don't see anyone here who said they didn't like it.

That said, how can you not like humor, but like Stargate? I'm careful with saying any our episodes are just serious; in the end, the show is trying to be entertaining. In most of our episodes you'll find a bit of a funny moment here and there. It wouldn't fit this show to just be serious; the same goes for SG-1 and Atlantis.

By the way, I was trying to say before it's okay to write description like that. I think that's not really coming across.

Then again, I guess it depends if you're rating the episode or the script. The script is something you wouldn't even see if it were a TV show; the episode is what you'd see on screen.

I was referring to the "vernacular" he mentioned. I was simply saying that if he didn't like the way it was written, it won't become a usual thing.

I wasn't judging the way the script was written or the episode itself. I quite enjoyed it, and I don't think the way in which the script is written effects an episode, unless it's something extreme like we were talking about earlier. That's not the case here.

And like I also said, it was only there to fit the comical of this episode. It was funny to read, with the dialogue and with the descriptions.

I was considering voting "excellent", but it isn't quite there. I voted "good". Some of it i quite liked.
