But what I woud get concerned about though, is that we'd have another spring up of people who, seeing this new VS, would try and start their own, and we'd haave like a hundred VS's, each sounding really similar to each other. With Horizon, Destiny, Genesis, and soon Disovery, it already seems like a bit much.
I dont know if i'd be right, but its just a thought.

So? We would still be the origionals, and its not only to get peopel intested but also to encourage them to get involved, know how much it takes will weedle out the one who are not up to it and can relise that and leave those that do and are willing to be part of this VS scene. I think all of our shows could use this influx of new readers, if we can only get 4% of SG fans up to say 10-15% then well have got three times the readers than the moment... Thing about new scenes is that they have to lead somewhere...something you should know by now Im going to write to alex rubit, asking if he would be interested in doing soemthing to raise the VS genre's profile...it he responds then ill get back to you.

Ok alex got back to me, hes really interest, and propposed the idea that someone who is impartial but interested in all three series be found and could maybe write up a report of what happens and stuff...so basicly we all invite him to a meeting of somekind and the readers would then get a 'feature' taste of how they are produced... then once its done we can send it off to the people who could help, the gateworld guys im geussing. or someone else.

What we need is to appeal to the readers. Get readers here...not f**k loads of series.

what do you think the point of all this is! the entire point is to create something that will give people a massive draw in to the VSing world...the whole point is to get readers.

^Yeah but what EAG is trying to say is you dont want loads of writers coming in (okay that wouldnt be too bad, but writers without new shows, who would be willing to write for SGH/D/G/N) if readers is what you want then maybe you should set up a system akin to the MZP system, pitch, then upgrade to an "other series" then to a featured series, that way not everyone will go for it.
Obviously a set of rules for each upgrade would be needed

well SGU does have that in a way, but im thinking more of actual advertising of the series throguh something for the entire genre. something very simple that would give poeple the interest to read alot more of the VS we are working. An interactive FAQ perhaps, maybe a GW thread that was communial," Virtual Series, you Q&A's " or something along those lines but in news format, like a small Q&A answer session with the group of VS producers/writers and a link to a setup thread. im would be fine in trying to set something like that up.

I think doing something on Omega would help to. Anubis seems to like VS. He already did one on Horizon so doing it on SG:U might help.

I think Lee on Monster Zero has something in mind for Stargate VS, and seeing as Destiny has a section on there, perhaps he will join up with us here at SGU

We're in discussions with MZP now that they've announced Discovery, but I can't say anymore. Mostly because there isn't much more.

It's Mike using an unregistered name, ever since I changed my email I have't gotten my new activation code sent. d**n Yahoo!.
Anyway, more readers would truly be great. I do agree that large scale advertisement would likely lead to an influx of destined-to-fail-VS's, but there are, of course, measures to prevent that. Perhaps a new SGU policy:
-In order to receive its own section on the SGU site, it must have a staff that it prepared to work, as well as a decent idea. Basically, the series gets its own forum if it seems thought is put into it. Otherwise, it can be featured in "Other Series." -In order to receive its own forum on the SGU forums, the series should perhaps have to release its first episode. Until then, they could use the "General VS" forum.
I do think the idea for SGU is a great concept, and I'd like to see more people involved, and more working VS's for it to feature. Of course, I suppose baby steps are necessary, and more of a base for Horizon, Genesis, and/or Destiny could easily bring a rise in popularity to SGU.

Maybe we should advertise, in terms of paying to have banners put up on massive sites, such as webcomics like Ctrl-Alt-Del, and Nuklear Power.
